Virginia International Tattoo

The Virginia International Tattoo, long regarded as the most patriotic of the world's great military tattoos, is a massive performance featuring a cast of 900+ from around the world. Performing groups include military bands, bagpipers, drill teams, dancers, choirs and more. The Virginia International Tattoo is the largest tattoo in the United States and thrills and inspires audiences young and old each spring.

East Coast She Crab Soup Classic

The East Coast She Crab Soup Classic is an open competition among restaurants. This event focuses on seafood, which is the most identifiable cuisine in Virginia Beach and a staple of area menus for decades.

DIGS Volleyball Tourament

Volleyball players take over the campground this weekend! Spectators are welcome to come and watch--$8 per person entry fee at the gate goes to KOA Care Camps, which give a camping experience to children who are undergoing cancer treatment.

Atlantic Coast Kite Festival

Kite fliers and spectators of all ages will experience a visual feast at the annual Atlantic Coast Kite Festival. This popular event features a variety of activities appropriate for all ages and all levels of kite aficionados. Colors in the Sky is the theme that participants will explore in the Atlantic Coast Kite Festivals Best Kite Contest.

PANorama Caribbean Music Fest

The PANorama Caribbean Music Fest is a musical adventure set to the soothing sounds of steel pan music. The festivals casual atmosphere appeals to the island community and people of all ages who are intrigued by the unique sounds and style of steel drum music! Fusing together the rhythm of steel bands, ocean breezes, and great Caribbean food, the breathtaking Virginia Beach oceanfront becomes an island paradise for the weekend.

Monsters on the Beach

Kalbones Monsters on the Beach brings thrills and chills to the Virginia Beach oceanfront as Monster Trucks battle for ultimate sand domination! This family-targeted event is loud, fast, and exciting. A course is built right on the beach at 6th Street, with bleachers overlooking from the boardwalk. Sand dunes and junk cars combine to make the race course fast and fun for drivers and spectators alike. This is a ticketed event, with prices designed to fit the family budget.

Care Camps Big Weekend / Mother's Day Weekend

Pay for Friday, May 9 and get Saturday, May 10 absolutely FREE! The proceeds from camping fees, as well as from the various fun events that will take place throughout the weekend, go to support KOA Care Camps which provide a camping experience to children who are undergoing cancer treatment. Please generously support Care Camps through these events! And let's not forget Mom's special day on Sunday! Kids, be sure to stop by our craft center and make her a special gift!

Sonrise Music Festival

The oceanfront will come alive with the sounds of positive/alternative music. This completely family-friendly event will feature positive/alternative artists offering a myriad of musical genres such as cutting edge top 40, hip hop, indie, and inspirational. Many of the featured artists can be found on Billboards Top 100 in the Positive Music genre. In addition, family activities comprised of comedians, childrens fun tent, speakers, contests, and more round out a weekend sure to entertain, motivate, and inspire. The event will offer themed displays for festival attendees to explore, such as military appreciation, youth, discovering historic Virginia, and beach tourism.

Third Annual Home Educators Appreciation Weekend

Virginia Beach KOA loves homeschoolers! Since you make many sacrifices, we want to honor you by giving you a get-away weekend with special rates, plenty of fun for all ages, goodies and prizes, and a chance to build some great family memories. Not a home educator? Thats OKall campers are welcome to join in the fun! But you'll need to show proof of homeschooling to get the special rates.

Beach Music Cruise-In

Beach Music Cruise-In, combining bands on the beach and cars on the boardwalk, blends the best of the oldies with dancing under the stars in a jam-packed blast to the past! Settle into the sand as the top Beach Music bands from up and down the East Coast descend on the Virginia Beach oceanfront in a nostalgic salute to the good old days of cool cars and hot tunes. Stroll the boardwalk to view classic cars, hot rods, antiques, and more.

Pirate Party on the Beach

This family-friendly event features two days of activities designed to bring out the pirate in everyone! Costume contests, games, a treasure hunt, pirate re-enactors, and movie on the beach all combine to celebrate those scallywags we all wish we could be -- pirates!

Salute to Summer

Salute to Summer is an unabashed Star-Spangled salute to great music, fun in the sun, and the military men and women who have sacrificed their lives throughout our history. Live, free entertainment on three outdoor stages includes music presented by local and regional bands. The Heroes Walk display stretches along the boardwalk from 17th to 31st Streets.

Beach Street USA Nightly Entertainment

Sidewalks and street corners are the stage at Beach Street USA. Musicians and novelty acts perform along Atlantic Avenue, the Main Street of the Virginia Beach Resort. From 7:30 pm-11:00 pm, an eight-block corridor of Beach Street USA transforms into a magical world of its own that is part circus, part outdoor music festival, and part family fun zone.

Sandstock - A Tribute to Rock & Roll

Sandstock A Tribute to Rock & Roll, is a beach-inspired variation on Woodstock. National and regional tribute artists who cover performers from Elton John to the Allman Brothers to the Grateful Dead will crank out hit after hit on two beach stages at the Virginia Beach oceanfront!All performances, which are free to the public, will be held on dueling stages on the beach at 24th Street, adjacent to the 24th Street Park.

Hardee's Latin Fest

For two days, Virginia Beach celebrates the sights and sounds of the Latin experience. Hardees Latin Fest, Friday-Saturday, June 27-28, possesses the key ingredients of good food, family participation, and first-rate Latin music.National performers electrify the diverse audience with high-energy tunes that move the crowd to dance under the stars. Local and regional Latin acts (each with their own loyal fan base) take the stage and unite festival-goers with the rhythms of Salsa, Merengue, and Jazz. All performances will take place on a giant stage on the beach at 24th Street.Additional activities, in the 24th Street Park, include the Zumba fitness marathon on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 8:00am. Zumba fitness is the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow calorie-burning party! Meet some of the areas best instructors. Participate for one hour or all four!

Stars & Stripes Explosion

Multiple live performances on oceanfront stages attract tens of thousands of visitors and residents of Hampton Roads to a star-spangled salute to this great country of ours at Stars & Stripes Explosion! Musical acts offer something for everyone with tribute bands saluting some of the biggest names in music. From 8:00pm-9:30pm, a stage erected right on the beach at 20th Street becomes the focal point for performances by Symphonicity (the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach) together with the Virginia Beach Chorale. This musical program encompasses patriotic songs, Broadway standards, movie themes, and folk music. The show segues into a spectacular fireworks show at 9:30pm.

Chalk the Walk ARTsplosion

Chalk the Walk takes over the Virginia Beach Boardwalk from 10:00am-5:00pm as hundreds of artists and wanna-be artists gather to turn the boardwalk into an impromptu canvas of color! Artist registration will be on the boardwalk at 17th Street, and art will be displayed for two blocks between 17th and 15th Streets.

Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge

Registration begins at 9:30am and all participants must be registered by noon in order to race. Preliminary hermit crab races lead to the Crustacean 500, where the winner is awarded the Order of the Mercury Claw trophy. Crabs race on a specially-designed circular track, where all the crabtestants are placed in the center. At the sound of the starting horn, crabs scurry to the outer ring of the track. Whichever claw crosses the line first wins. Its the survival of the crabbiest!Crab is King at this one-of-a-kind event thats fun for the whole family! [b]The Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge was named to TripAdvisor.com's 2010 list of the Wackiest Summer Events in America and to the New York Daily News 2012 list of the top 10 Wackiest Festivals in the WORLD.[/b]

Salute America (Labor Day Weekend)

We'll have another extended weekend celebrating America, packed with plenty of fun activities and featuring the Rock 'n Roll Marathon and American Music Festival at the beach!

East Coast Bully Bash

Near the end of September (date to be finalized), come and see some of the "top dogs" in the bulldog class with the first annual East Coast Bully Bash. This will be a great show featuring Olde, English, French, and other bulldogs, along with competitions and a variety of area vendors. Open to the public with modest entry and spectator fees. Fall Festival at KOA

An annual weekend of family-friendly fall fun, right at the KOA Campground! Includes fall crafts, pumpkin picking, hay wagon rides, roasty toasty bonfire, and more.
